Is water damage covered if a tree fell on my house?
I live in Florida and a storm caused a tree to fall on my house. It ripped a hole my roof, which caused a whole bunch of water damage. Can I submit a claim for that?

Although most home insurance policies exclude water damage unless there is a specific endorsement, water damage resulting from a tree or wind is covered. The proximate cause of your roof damage was the tree. The water damage was a side effect of that.
Alternatively, if water had caused a hole in your roof and damaged your home, you couldn’t submit a claim, unless you had a water damage endorsement or flood insurance.
