My license expired and my next appointment at the DMV is in a week and a half. Is it possible to get new insurance without my valid ID?

Most
car insurance
policies state that you can get auto insurance without a license—as long as the license hasn’t been
suspended
or revoked. This could be helpful in a few situations:
  • You’re insuring an underage drivers
  • You have a personal driver
  • You have a learner’s permit
  • You’re insuring a collector’s car that you won’t drive
  • You want to insure your car with a caregiver as the primary driver
That said, you do have a license—it just isn’t currently valid.
Most insurance companies will ask for a valid driver’s license number when you sign up for a policy. Since you already have an appointment scheduled with the DMV, we recommend that you renew your expired license before applying.
