How soon after moving should you change your address with your insurance company?

I recently moved from Kentucky to New York. Before I moved, I got a quote for auto insurance and was shocked at how expensive it was! I have been here for a few weeks now and was wondering how long I have until I have to change the address? I want to save as much money as possible for as long as I can.

“In general, you have between 30-90 days to change your address with your car insurance company once you move to a new location.
New York State wants all residents to update their address within the first 10 days of their move. Once you secure new insurance and register your car in New York, return your license plates back to the Kentucky DMV via mail.
Each state has different rates and different coverage requirements. It is no surprise that you experienced a little sticker shock when you saw the rates for New York!
