How much does an Uber driver make in Michigan?
I’m a retired machinist and I spend my time taking long walks in the woods with my wife, Stella, and our dog, Mortimer. We’ve saved a decent amount to live well, but I’d love a bit more cash to help fund future trips. I’m a people person—my wife refers to me as “Chatty Cathy,” so I figured I could give ridesharing a try. How much does an Uber driver make in Michigan?

According to Salary.com, an Uber driver in
Michigan
can make anywhere between $31,000 and $46,000 a year. In reality, the amount you earn will depend on several factors:
- Where you drive
- When you drive
- How often you drive
Where: You’re likely to make more money if you’re driving in a bigger city with more potential riders, such as
Detroit
, Grand Rapids
, or Ann Arbor
.When: Driving during peak hours between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. would generate a lot of money, but it might cut into your and Stella’s social plans. Early morning rush hour can be lucrative, too, but Mortimer might not be too happy if his walks are cut short because you’re being hailed for a ride.
How often: This is the most important factor! You make your own hours as a Michigan Uber driver, and as a retired person you could theoretically work as much as you want (if there’s demand where you live).
Before you decide to work for a rideshare company, consider the drawbacks.
