Does car insurance still cover claims if you have expired registration?

I hit a deer and need to submit a claim. My registration is currently expired. Will I still be covered?

“As long as you have valid insurance and the correct coverage, you should be able to submit a claim to your insurance for the damage.
While it’s extremely important to maintain valid registration on your vehicle, your
car insurance
shouldn’t deny a claim. However, if you have to file a police report or you called the police to the scene, you may get a ticket for having expired registration.
Also, you will need
comprehensive insurance
on your policy for the damage to be covered. Comprehensive insurance, often known as other-than-collision coverage, covers perils that aren’t related to colliding with another vehicle or property. Hitting an animal, vandalism, and theft are all covered under comprehensive insurance.
If you have comprehensive coverage, you’ll also be required to pay your deductible before your insurance will cover the remaining damage.
If you don’t have comprehensive, you may want to think about adding it to your policy in the future. To make this process as easy as possible, download the
