I got into an accident and I don't have enough insurance. The other person is going to sue me. How much can they sue me for?

It’s true that getting into an accident without insurance or with inadequate insurance will usually result in a lawsuit. How much someone can sue for, however, will depend on where you live and the circumstances of the accident.
For bodily injury, the average claim will be around $52,900. Most states set minimum insurance limits at $25,000 for property damage and $50,000 for bodily injury, so if you have
the minimum insurance
, you’ll only be partially covered. The lawsuit can be for any amount not covered by your insurance policy.
I’m sorry that your insurance isn’t as helpful as it could be in this situation. After this accident, it’s a good idea to shop for a new policy—and maybe even a new provider. An easy way to do this is by using the

app to see what other options are out there! Jerry can even cancel your old policy for you once you find a better policy at a better price.
