How many points before your license is suspended in Texas?

I don’t understand how driving points can affect me in Texas. I know points are part of getting a ticket, but does getting too many points cost you your license?

While
Texas
does use the points system to track driver behavior, point totals don’t always equal suspension—but you’ll still want to drive safely to avoid having points on your
Texas driving record
in the first place.
However, the number of violations on your driving record can lead to a license suspension.
There are two ways your license can be suspended in Texas:
  1. Four or more moving traffic violations within a 12-month period, or
  2. Seven or more moving traffic violations within a 24-month period
If you’ve been convicted of at least two offenses for a violation that conflicts with a restriction or endorsement printed on your driver's license, you may also have your license suspended or disqualified.
You can avoid having your licenses suspended by keeping a
clean driving record
—and there are a couple of ways to do that in Texas.
  1. For every 12 months without a violation, Texas will remove one point from your record
  2. Enroll and successfully complete a state-approved defensive driving record to remove one violation from your driving record
Keep in mind: When you get a ticket for a moving violation, you’ll often see an increase in your car insurance rates. The
