To reset the oil light on a 2015 Ford Escape, you’ll need to turn the ignition on (but not the engine) and hold down the gas and brake pedals for up to 25 seconds.
When your 2015 Escape’s oil light goes on, it’s time for an oil change. The light won’t reset itself after servicing your vehicle, though—you’ll need to reset it.
The process can be a bit confusing, but don’t worry! We’re here to walk you through the 2015 Ford Escape engine oil service light reset process. Let’s get to it.

How to reset the engine oil maintenance light on a 2015 Ford Escape

The 2015 Ford Escape is equipped with an Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor® system to help you stay on top of your oil changes. The system takes into account how you are driving your
Ford
to determine the best time to change your oil.
The catch? After each oil change, you need to reset the engine oil maintenance light for this system to work. Luckily, it’s not a complicated process.
To reset the engine oil maintenance light on a 2015 Ford Escape, follow these steps:
  1. Turn your ignition on without starting the engine (with a push-button start, hold down the start button for 2 seconds).
  2. Press fully down on the gas and brake pedals at the same time.
  3. After three seconds, your screen should read: “Service: Oil Reset In Prog.”
  4. Keep pressing down on the gas and brakes for another 25 seconds or until the screen reads “Service: Oil Reset Complete.”
  5. Release the pedals and turn off your Escape.
At this point, you’re all reset! When the time comes for another oil change, your Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor® system will alert you.

How often does a 2015 Ford Escape need an oil change?

The frequency of your 2015 Ford Escape oil changes will depend on your driving conditions. Your Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor system will consider these conditions, but your
2015 Ford Escape owner’s manua
l comes with specific recommendations for how often to change your oil.
Ford recommends changing the oil in an Escape oil every 7,500 to 10,000 miles if you’re commuting in normal conditions. If you’re doing moderate to heavy towing, driving off-road, or idling for extended periods, you’ll need to change your oil more frequently—between every 5,000 and 7,000 miles. In extreme weather or with maximum loads, change your oil every 3,000 to 4,999 miles.
Sticking within these parameters will help prevent engine damage and keep your Escape running smoothly. You can cut back on costs by changing your Escape’s oil from home, but don’t forget that you’ll also have to reset the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor system yourself.
