How long is a standard truck bed?

Since taking a new job in a small town, I’ve decided to buy a pickup truck. This is quite a change for a former city girl! Now, I’m trying to decide what size truck to buy. How long is a standard truck bed?

Congratulations on your new job! A standard truck bed is around six and a half feet long as you can see from this chart:
Bed size
Length
Long or extended bed
8 feet
Standard bed
6.5 feet
Short bed
around 5.5 or 5.8 feet
Keep in mind that you may not need a standard bed if you’ll mostly be using the truck for things like picking up gardening supplies, making a quick dump run, or transporting a bicycle. Consider exactly what you’ll be using the truck for before making a decision.
Good luck with finding the perfect ride for your new life!
