How do you take a motorcycle driving test?

How do motorcycle driving tests work? I don't understand how you could have an examiner on a motorcycle with you for a driving test!

In many states, you just have to take a knowledge test in order to obtain a
motorcycle
license. If you live in a state that requires you to take a motorcycle driving test, however, an examiner will typically follow you in a car to make sure that you’re driving correctly.
In most states, you can’t have passengers on the bike with you until you get your full license— not even the driving examiner for your test. Instead, focus your energy on studying the things you’ll need to know for the written exam.
