How do you open the 2016 Kia Optima’s gas tank?

I recently bought a 2016 Kia Optima and am having trouble accessing the gas tank to refuel as I can’t figure out how to open the fuel filler door—how do you open the 2016 Kia Optima’s gas tank?

Opening the gas tank on a 2016
Kia Optima
is pretty simple, but can be difficult to figure out or get used to if you’re used to driving older vehicles. All you have to do to open the gas tank on a 2016 Kia Optima is:
    1. Switch the engine off.
    1. Press the fuel fill lid opener button. You should find this button on the lower left side of the instrument panel—a white fuel pump icon marks it.
    1. After pressing the button, the fuel filler door will automatically spring open part way within a few seconds (unless it is blocked by ice, you’ll need to push or tap lightly on the door to break it).
    1. Pull the fuel fill lid open the rest of the way.
    1. Unscrew the fuel filler cap (it turns counterclockwise).
Once you have removed the fuel filler cap, the gas tank’s opening is exposed and you are ready to refuel. Keep in mind that the 2016 Kia Optima requires regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher and has a fuel tank capacity of 18.5 gallons.
When you have finished refueling, turn the fuel filler cap clockwise until you hear an audible “click”—this signifies it has locked securely in place. Failure to securely tighten the cap will cause the “Check Engine” light to illuminate your Kia’s dashboard. Firmly shut the fuel fill lid to lock it.
