How do I terminate my car insurance?

I am going abroad for awhile, and I’m leaving my car behind in the States, since I don’t want to pay for car insurance I don’t need. Since my car’s just going to be sitting in my garage until I come home, is there any way I can cancel my current coverage? How do I terminate my car insurance?

Congrats on the trip, and great question! To terminate your insurance policy, all you need to do is reach out to your provider.
Contact your provider to
cancel your insurance policy
. Most policies can only be canceled by email or over the phone, so be prepared to talk to an agent before you cancel!
While some policies will allow you to cancel for free, many insurance companies will charge a cancelation fee or not refund any earlier payments. A little sleuthing on your provider’s website will help you figure out what (if anything) you can expect to pay.
Once you’re ready for your next insurance policy, check out the
Jerry
app. We’ll get you customized quotes from top-of-the-line providers, so that all you need to do is pick the plan that works best for you. And once you choose a plan, we’ll even help you switch!
Have a good time abroad, and bon voyage!
