How do I add a lienholder to my car insurance?

I purchased a new car insurance policy but forgot to add my lienholder. What’s the best way to add someone to my insurance?

If you forgot to add your lienholder to your
car insurance
policy, you can call your car insurance company to add them.
While you may be able to add your lienholder to your car insurance policy online, it’s probably easier to speak with an agent. They will require your lienholder’s name and address to be added to your policy.
Keep in mind: When you add a lienholder, most car insurance companies require you carry both
comprehensive
and
collision coverage
. If those coverages aren’t currently on your policy, you will be required to add them to keep your lienholder listed.
Pro tip: Ask your insurance company to send
proof of insurance
to your lienholder, if they requested it. You should receive updated policy documents, too.
While you’re making adjustments to your insurance, why not make sure you aren’t paying too much? The
Jerry
app makes it easy. Jerry will do all the hard work of finding cheap quotes from the top name-brand insurance companies and buying new car insurance. And Jerry will even help you cancel your old policy.
