2011 Audi A4 engine oil capacity

The two-liter four-cylinder engine in your 2011 Audi A4 holds 4.9 quarts or 4.6 liters of oil.
Make sure you know the difference between your engine's displacement (the two-liter volume occupied by the pistons in your motor's cylinders) and its oil capacity (the amount of oil the engine can hold and use as a lubricant).
The engine oil capacity and the size of the engine are not the same numbers, and you can't switch them.

What kind of oil does a 2011 Audi A4 need?

Now that we've determined how much oil your 2011 Audi A4 can hold, it's time to talk about its oil type. That's right; you can't just put any motor oil into your car.
Instead, when you're at the auto parts store, look for SAE 5W-40. That's the oil that Audi recommends using in your car, and it's always wise to use the manufacturer's recommendation.
Those letters and numbers might seem meaningless to you, but they're actually a pretty simple code used to identify the type of oil.
The "SAE" stands for Society of Automotive Engineers, the organization responsible for writing these codes, while the numbers represent the oil's viscosity or thickness. The number "5" shows how thick the oil is when it's cold (which is why it's next to the letter "W," which stands for winter). The number "40" shows how thick the oil is when it's warm.
Smaller numbers stand for thinner oils, and thinner oils are able to move through your engine more efficiently.
If you still aren't sure what oil to buy, consider these three options:

How often to change the oil on a 2011 Audi A4

Audi advises replacing your 2011 A4's oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. If you don't drive your car very much, remembering to change the oil every six months may be easier and more convenient.
Because those are big time ranges, it's important to remember to check your oil in between changes to ensure it's still in good condition and the level is healthy. We recommend checking your car's oil every other time you fill the fuel tank, or at least once a month.
When you do check your oil, pay attention to the color and consistency, and look for these signs that it needs to be replaced:
  • Oil with a dark brown, black, or muddy appearance (clean oil looks similar to dark, amber-colored honey)
  • Grimy, sandy, or gritty textured oil
  • Foul odors coming from the engine, such as oil, burning, or smoke
  • Poor engine performance
  • Strange noises suddenly come from the engine

How to change your oil and oil filter

Now that you know how much oil your 2011 A4 holds and what type of oil it needs, you're ready to get started changing it. You'll need these
car tools and supplies
:
  • A jack and jack stands or ramps to raise the car
  • A ratchet wrench with a 17-millimeter socket
  • An oil filter wrench
  • A torque wrench
  • A funnel
  • A drain pan
  • A clean towel or rag
After you gather your tools and supplies, start your car and let it run for five minutes. This will cause the oil to warm up, which will help it to drain more quickly. Once the engine is warm, turn the car off, open the hood, and follow the steps below.
Step 1: Pull up the dipstick and remove the oil fill cap.
Step 2: Crawl under the car and unscrew and remove the oil drain plug. Position the drain pan to catch the old oil.
Step 3: While the oil is draining, remove the old oil filter.
Step 4: Apply a thin layer of oil to the new filter's gasket and screw it into place. Be sure to tighten the filter until it is snug but don't go too tight.
Step 5: Screw the drain plug back into place and tighten it to 22 lb-ft
Step 6: Use the funnel to fill the engine with clean oil and then replace the fill cap.
After you've done these things, turn on your Audi and let it run for 30 seconds. Then, use the dipstick to check how much oil is in the car and add more if needed.
As a final step, return your old oil to the auto parts store by pouring it into the container for the new oil.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
