How to replace a lost driver’s license in Georgia
Since driving without it can get you into a lot of trouble, you must apply for a replacement as soon as you realize that you've lost your driver's license. Fortunately, obtaining a new

is simple and can be done in-person, online, or through an app.The replacement fee will vary depending on your license expiration date:
- $5: if your license expiry is in over 150 days from the issue date

Replacing a lost Georgia license in person
You can go to your local DDS customer service center to replace your lost Georgia driver’s license. Be sure to have the following with you:
- The required documents from thelist of acceptable documentation
- The applicable replacement fees
Replacing a lost Georgia license online or via an app
While you are limited to how many times you can replace your license per year, you can still do so on the
DDS online service portal
or the DDS 2 Go app. If you don't already have an account, you must first create one. You will be asked for identifying information, including your name, license number, Social Security number, and date of birth.To replace your lost Georgia license online, you must meet the following criteria:
- You are a resident of Georgia
- You are a citizen of the United States
Once you complete the online application and transaction, your license will be delivered in around 30 days.
What if you lose your Georgia license out of state?
If you know your license number, you can use the Georgia DDS online service to request a replacement license while you are out of state. However, the DDS will not send your license to an out-of-state address.
