While the Cadillac SRX doesn't come equipped with a spare tire, you won’t be out of luck in the event of a flat. With Cadillac’s tire inflation kit, you’ll be back on the road in no time.
Like many other auto manufacturers,
Cadillac
began phasing out spare tires in 2016 and replaced them with tire inflation kits. By ditching the weight of a spare tire, Cadillacs are both more spacious and fuel-efficient. However, if you’ve never had to contend with a flat tire, repairing it on your own can feel a little daunting.

Does the Cadillac SRX have a spare tire?

No, the Cadillac SRX does not come with a spare tire in the vehicle. Rather, to save room and reduce weight at the rear of the car, Cadillacs come equipped with tire inflation kits
The Cadillac SRX tire repair kit comes with a tire sealant and a small compressor. Depending on the model of SRX, the tire repair kit’s location will vary.

How to use the Cadillac SRX Tire Inflation Kit

If you’ve run into the event of a flat tire, pull your Cadillac over to a safe location and remove the tire inflation kit from its storage location.
To use the kit, follow the steps below:
  1. Unwrap the sealant/air hose and the power plug.
  2. Remove the valve stem cap from the flat tire and attach the sealant/air hose onto the stem.
  3. Plug in the power plug to the accessory power outlet in the vehicle, and unplug all other items.
  4. Start the vehicle.
  5. Press the selector switch to the Sealant + Air position and press the on/off button to turn on the compressor kit
  6. The compressor will inject sealant into the tire, which will initially increase the pressure on the pressure gauge.
  7. As the sealant disperses in the tire, the pressure will drop and slowly rise again as air inflates the tire
Once you’ve inflated your tire, return the kit to its original storage location and immediately drive your SRX roughly 5 miles to further distribute the sealant in your tire. Find another safe location to stop and check the pressure in your tire.
If the pressure has fallen more than 68 kPa (10 psi) below the recommended inflation pressure, stop driving the vehicle—the tire has been too severely damaged to be inflated and should not be driven any farther. If you have
towing and labor insurance coverage
, you can call for help or contact
roadside assistance
If the tire has not dropped more than 68 kPa (10 psi), use the pressure gauge to inflate the tire to the recommended pressure (Hint: You can find the recommended pressure on the Tire and Loading Information label.).
Remember: The tire inflation kit is a temporary fix, and once you’ve sealed your tire, you should take your car to an authorized dealer to have the tire repaired or replaced by a professional.

How to find affordable insurance for a Cadillac SRX

While Cadillac’s tire inflation kit can be a quick fix to get you back on the road, tire repairs can be costly, and in some cases, a flat tire can lead to an accident.

FAQ

It has become common for auto manufacturers to skip out on spare tires to improve fuel efficiency by reducing the vehicle’s load. In 2016, Cadillac followed suit and replaced its spare tires with tire inflation kits.
