background
The Cadillac ATS does not come equipped with a spare tire, so don’t bother ripping your trunk apart looking for one. As an alternative, the ATS comes with a tire sealant and compression kit to provide your tire with a short-term repair.
Every model of the ATS sports run-flat tires—tires specially formulated to resist deflation upon being punctured, and allow for the car to remain on the road at lower speeds. Although the ATS, which hasn’t been produced since 2018, doesn’t have a spare tire in the trunk, there are still options to get you back on the road safely should you get a flat.

Does a Cadillac ATS have a spare tire?

Satisfied with their run-flat tires, Cadillac decided not to equip the ATS with a spare tire. Instead, this model offers a tire sealant and compression kit designed to provide drivers with a quick fix that can allow them to safely drive somewhere to get a new tire.
You can find your tire sealant and compression kit under the floorboard of the trunk. The kit includes:
  • Pressure gauge
  • Tire sealant canister
  • Air hose
  • Compressor
The purpose of this kit is to temporarily seal any punctures up to a quarter-inch in size, as well as inflate your tire. There is only enough sealant in each canister to repair one tire, so be sure to replace it after its use.
This kit should give your damaged tire enough life to get back on the road and to a Cadillac dealership or repair shop.

How to use the Cadillac ATS tire sealant and compression kit

Make sure to check the expiration date on your sealant canister and replace it as the expiration approaches—you never know when you’ll need it. If the tire has been separated from the wheel or has damaged sidewalls, the sealant and compression kit will not be enough and you should call
roadside assistance
To use Cadillac’s tire sealant and compression kit, follow these steps:
  • Pull over somewhere safe, with emphasis on clean and flat land if possible.
  • Attach the canister air hose to the flat tire’s valve.
  • Plug the power cord into the accessory power outlet in the vehicle and unplug anything in other accessory power outlets.
  • Start the car and turn the kit on. The compressor will now inject sealant into the tire.
  • Inflate the tire to 35 psi for front tires, or 40 psi for rear tires. To get the most accurate pressure reading, turn the compressor off before reading the gauge.
  • Turn off the compressor, remove all cords and hoses, and store it properly back in the trunk.
If you cannot reach the recommended tire pressure after 25 minutes, a bigger problem may be present and you should not drive your ATS any further. If your coverage includes
towing and labor insurance
, you can always reach out for help.

FAQs

Cadillac equips their vehicles with run-flat tires, which are designed to combat punctures long enough for you to drive somewhere for a new tire. They also don’t include spare tires because ditching the extra weight of the tire and jack actually makes the car more fuel-efficient.
Cadillac stores their tire sealant and compression kit in the trunk of their cars, underneath the floorboard. When you are done using the kit, it should only be stored back in this same place.
