Where is the spare tire on a Toyota Sienna?
We’re borrowing a relative’s Toyota Sienna to take our kids to Yellowstone this summer and I’m wondering if we need to buy a spare tire for the long trip. I’ve checked for a spare already in the vehicle and haven’t been able to find one. Does the Sienna have a spare tire and if so, where is it located?

The location of the
Toyota Sienna’s
spare tire depends on the age of the vehicle—but not every model has one.The Toyota Sienna does not come standard with a spare tire and will only have one if the original buyer chose to include a spare tire at the time the vehicle was purchased.
If you can confirm that your relative opted to include a spare tire when they purchased the car, that can help make the process of finding it a lot easier. Here’s where to check for the Sienna’s spare tire based on its model year:
- In model years 2021 and newer: The Sienna’s spare tire is located on the left-hand side of the cargo area. To access it, you simply pull on the plastic housing to reveal the tire underneath.
- In models produced from 2011 to 2020: The spare tire is underneath the car near the rear bumper. To remove the tire, insert the tire jack into the metal loop in the rear cargo area and turn. Eventually, this will release the tire from the underside of the vehicle.
But remember—the spare tire will only be located there if the original buyer purchased the spare along with the vehicle at the time of sale. Otherwise, the Toyota Sienna comes equipped with a tire fix-it inflator kit that can temporarily repair flat tires in case of emergencies.
