When did Fiat buy RAM?

I was reading about automotive brands, and I came across an article about RAM switching over hands, and I didn’t know Fiat owned RAM. When did they buy it?

Fiat didn’t directly buy
RAM
, but RAM is one of the automotive brands produced by Fiat Chrysler Automotive (FCA), which merged with the French PSA Group in 2021 under the multinational automotive corporation Stellantis.
On January 21, 2014,
Fiat
bought the remaining shares of Chrysler that had been owned by the VEBA, which eventually fell under a new holding company: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
RAM was owned by Chrysler,
which made it indirectly owned by Fiat.
But RAM wasn’t always just RAM. RAM became a stand-alone name for the Dodge RAM pickup trucks in 2009—and there are differences between models made before 2009 and those made after. All pre-2009 trucks fall under Dodge RAM, while post-2009 pickups are just RAM trucks. They’re still the same company, but the branding is different.
Along with Fiat and RAM, Stellantis also includes other brands:
  • Abarth
  • Alfa Romeo
  • Chrysler
  • Dodge
  • Fiat Professional
  • Jeep
  • Lancia
  • Maserati
  • Peugeot
  • Citroën
  • DS
  • Opel
  • Vauxhall
