What should I do if my 2006 Honda Odyssey’s sliding door won’t open?

I’ve had the same 2006 Honda Odyssey in my family for years, and it’s never given us any issues. But today, I was trying to start her up after being away, and the side door won’t open. What should I do if my van’s sliding door won’t open?

Sorry to hear the family van is welcoming you back with a stuck side door! When your 2006
Honda Odyssey
’s sliding door won’t open, you can try resetting the power doors by turning the power switch on and off. You can find the switch on the door panel to the left of the steering wheel.
If that doesn’t work, you can try resetting the power door fuse by following these steps:
  • Go to your Odyssey’s fuse box under the hood and pull out the fuse puller
  • Inside your Odyssey, look for the fuse panel behind your parking brake and open it up
  • Locate and pull out fuse number seven with the fuse puller (it’s usually a dark red 7.5 amp fuse)
  • Leave the fuse out for at least ten seconds, then replace it
  • Your Odyssey may enter anti-theft mode and require a
    radio code
to continue—you can find the correct code on the anti-theft card in your owner’s manual
  • Put your fuse puller back in the fuse box under the hood and close everything up
  • Test out your power doors with the key fob to see if it’s become unstuck
If your sliding door continues to have issues, there could be something wrong with the
car door latch assembly
or the side trolley. When in doubt, it’s never a bad idea to get your Honda to a
car repair
shop for a more thorough diagnosis of the problem.
