I have a comedy audition in New York City but I live in Chicago. I can’t afford to fly, so I’ll have to drive. What’s the best route?

Driving in New York City can be a real pain, so follow these tips to keep your head in heavy traffic:
- Watch out for cyclists. There are lots of cyclists in NYC, from hobbyists to couriers. They have the same right to the road as you, so yield when you see one.
- Don’t turn right on red. It might be legal in your town, but it’s not in NYC!
- Lay off the horn. It’s tempting, but you could get ticketed for “unnecessary honking.”
- Don’t block the box. If you don’t have enough space to make it through the green and clear the intersection, it’s better to stay put.
- Stay calm. NYC is infamous for its traffic jams—try to enjoy being part of the city’s culture!
