What's important to know about scooter insurance?

I'm looking into getting scooter insurance for my new scooter. Is there anything I need to know? I've never had to get insurance before.

“Scooters are an exciting way to get around; congrats on the new ride!
If you’ve never purchased car insurance or scooter insurance, there are a few things you need to know about different types of coverage to make the process easier.
The first thing to know is the level of coverage available. While not every state requires scooter insurance, most insurance companies do offer the same types of coverage. These typically are basic and full coverage.
Basic insurance is liability only insurance. This covers other people or property if you damage something or injure someone while on your scooter.
Full coverage is comprised of comprehensive and collision. These cover your scooter, even if you cause an accident. These normally come with a deductible and cost more on an insurance policy.
Before getting an insurance policy, you’ll want to decide what coverage you’ll need. You’ll also want to check with your state’s DMV to confirm they don’t require a specific type of insurance based on the engine size of your scooter.
After that, be sure to shop around! Insurance companies all determine rates differently. Since companies look at your personal information to rate your policy, comparison shopping helps you find the best cost for the coverage you need.
Shopping with multiple companies can be time-consuming. The easiest way to shop is through the Jerry app! We’ll get you multiple quotes from different providers so that you can simply choose the one that gives you the coverage you need at the lowest price. That way you can get your scooter insured quickly and easily, then get out on the road!”
