Does home insurance cover a bat infestation?

Yikes! That sounds terrifying—I’d want to get it taken care of ASAP, too! Since bat or pest infestation is preventable, home insurance usually won’t provide coverage.
While
home insurance
covers many different types of damage, it often won’t cover anything related to the general upkeep or maintenance of your home. It also won’t cover anything related to age or neglect. Although it’s unlikely you’ve kept your attic in disrepair, allowing the bats to come in, your insurance still believes it’s your responsibility to prevent it from occurring. Had you been aware of any openings in your roof or attic, you would have prevented the bats from entering your home.
However, some home insurance companies may consider covering the damage from bats or even their removal. However, it’s incredibly dependent on the insurance provider, so you’ll need to check with your insurance provider to know for sure.
You can also check your policy’s coverages and exclusions to see if you have coverage.
