What is the Texas electric vehicle rebate?

My current car is on its last leg, so I’ve started to shop for a new one. I was thinking about buying an electric car, but I want to see if I can get any sort of rebate or incentives. Does Texas have an electric vehicle rebate?

Sorry to hear about your current car, but you have a great opportunity in the Lone Star State to get a new electric vehicle. The
Texas
electric vehicle rebate provides up to $2,500 toward the price of a new electric vehicle (EV).
To get this $2,500 rebate, you’re going to need a copy of the following documents:
  • Completed application for Texas title and registration
  • W-9 Form
  • Purchase or lease agreement
  • Driver’s license, state ID, or passport
  • Finance agreement, bill of sale, or canceled check
Once you have all of these documents, either email them to
TERPapply@tceq.texas.gov
or send them by regular mail to:
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Air Grants Division LDPLIP, MC-204 P.O. Box 13087 Austin, TX 78711-3087
