Unfortunately, Alabama does not offer any vehicle-based incentives.
The state does offer a rate rider to help offset the electricity costs for charging an electric vehicle. In other words, Alabama offers a discount on electricity for drivers who charge their PEVs (plug-in electric vehicles) during off-peak hours.
Alabama drivers can still access the federal tax credit, which could save you up to $7,500 depending on the car’s battery capacity.
How to get the Alabama electric vehicle incentive
To be eligible for the discounted electricity rate, you must be a residential EV customer with Alabama Power. Once you provide the company with approved documentation verifying ownership, you will receive a discount of 1.7155 cents per kWh during off-peak charging hours.
