What is a certificate of insurance?

Can I get a certificate of insurance from my homeowners or car insurance companies? I am performing and working in a festival and the manager said I need a certificate of insurance.

“A certificate of insurance is a document that verifies that you have insurance coverage.
Typically this document is used by small businesses to verify that they have proper coverage when working on job sites or when proof is requested.
Since you will be performing, your homeowners and
car insurance
policies would not qualify. You will need to get a separate policy that provides liability coverages.
Most would recommend looking into a commercial liability insurance. This is also called general liability insurance. It will protect you from any damage or injuries you may cause and will provide you with a certificate of insurance.
Many companies offer coverage, so you should check with your car and
home insurance
carrier. They may be able to provide you with a lower rate since you already have policies with them.”
