Should I file a claim with AAA?

A wind storm did some damage to my car the other week—it’s not too bad, but I definitely want to fix it. Should I file a claim with AAA? I don't want to see an increase in my policy.

You shouldn’t be afraid to ask your insurance to repair your car—that is what
car insurance
is for! Your concern about rising insurance premiums is valid, but you don’t have to worry in this case.
Wind storm damage is paid out under
comprehensive coverage
. Comprehensive claims are considered not at fault, so your policy will not be surcharged for a comprehensive claim.
Your deductible amount can determine if you should submit a claim to
AAA
or not. AAA will be responsible for any amount over the deductible. For example, if your deductible is $500, and the cost of repairs is $1500, you will pay $500 and they will pay $1000.
However, if you have a $1000 deductible and the repairs are only $1000, it isn’t worth calling the claim in.
If your car isn’t driveable due to the damage, towing may be covered under your policy. If you don’t have towing coverage with your policy, check out
Jerry’s roadside assistance program
. We’ve got you covered for towing, key replacement, lockouts, and even Uber credits—and more!
Best of luck with your repairs, and hopefully everything goes smoothly!
