Not to sound all parental, but it’s not just the law, it’s also a really smart choice!
A seatbelt ticket is not a moving violation in Washington State. However it will go on your driving record, although sources report that it won’t be reported to insurance agencies.
The penalty for being caught driving without a seatbelt is a fine of $124, and if you leave it unpaid (or are a repeat offender), it can lead to having your license suspended.
