Is a fix-it ticket considered a moving violation?

I have a broken tail light and was recently pulled over and given a ticket for it. One of my friends told me that since I was driving, it counts as a moving violation. Is this true? Is a fix it ticket considered a moving violation?

Ugh—getting pulled over is never fun!
The good news is that, generally speaking, a fix it ticket is not a moving violation. These kinds of tickets are essentially what their name indicates—it’s a ticket that you’re issued for some problem that needs to be fixed.
Often this is for mechanical issues like
busted headlights and tail lights
, or cracked glass in the windshield. Some areas also classify failure to renew your registration or parking violations as fix it tickets.
But the bottom line is, no, it’s not a moving violation in most cases. Hope this helps—and don’t forget to get that tail light fixed!
