How much is a texting and driving ticket in Illinois?

I got the ticket this morning but I have to wait to pay it until it shows up on my account. I want to make sure that I budget enough money for it, especially if it’s going to be expensive. How much is a cell phone ticket in Illinois?

Fortunately,
texting and driving
tickets in Illinois are on the lower end of the traffic-fine spectrum. For your first offense, you’ll have to pay $75.
Hopefully, you’ll never receive another cell phone ticket. But if you do, for a second offense, you’ll owe $100. For a third offense, the fine is $125. Subsequent offenses are $150.
If you were texting and driving and caused harm to someone, however, you could be charged with a Class A misdemeanor. This charge may come with a year in jail and a fine of $2,500. And if texting and driving results in someone’s death, you would be charged with a Class 4 felony.
