How many miles do tires last?

I feel like I just got new tires the other day, and here I am replacing them once again. It feels like I’m changing tires every other day. Am I missing something? How many miles do tires last?

Hmm, that’s interesting—tires should last much longer than every other day! But seriously, your typical run-of-the-mill tires usually last for roughly 50,000 miles.
There are other factors that will influence how long (or short, in your case) they last. Here are a few other factors that affect tire mileage:
  • The type of tire: High-performance tires wear out faster than all-season tires
  • Drivetrain: Tires wear differently on front vs. rear vs. all-wheel drives
  • Road conditions: Your tires wear down more quickly in poor road conditions like snow, gravel, and frequent construction
  • Driving habits: If you accelerate and brake suddenly and quickly, your tires will wear down much faster than if you drive gingerly
You can also check your tires’ treadwear rating that tells you the life expectancy of your tire treads! And remember to always inflate your tires to the recommended air pressure level.
If you’re racking up a ton of mileage, you’ll want to make sure your car is fully protected.
