How many Land Rover Defenders were made?
I’m doing a little research on the Land Rover brand and I want to know the specific production numbers for some models. How many Land Rover Defenders were made?

With a 33-year production run, the
Land Rover
Defender isn’t exactly rare, though it is a bit of a specialty vehicle. During its production, Land Rover manufactures approximately 665,000 Defenders.In its final model year, which was 2016, Land Rover only produced 7,000 Defenders. The model’s production peaked for the 1997 model year when 39,000 were made.
Then, in 2020, Land Rover rejuvenated the Defender brand with a redesign and engineering overhaul. The new Land Rover Defender is still on the market with the following sales figures by model year to date:
- 2020: 9,100
- 2021: 19,080
- 2022: 6,293
That 2022 model year figure may increase as more data becomes available, and the 2023 Land Rover Defender is now available with a $53,500 starting MSRP.
It may not be rare, but this Land Rover fits squarely in the luxury SUV segment. Be sure to consider all the costs of ownership for a high-end Defender like maintenance and
