How do I fix a noisy car seat?
My driver’s car seat is *so* loud. All it does is squeak all day long. I don’t know anything about cars, and I don’t even know where to begin to figure out what’s wrong. How do I fix my noisy car seat?

A noisy car seat can be a serious bother. Your car seat could be squeaking because of loose screws, rusty spring netting, or accumulated rust and dirt.
You can fix a squeaky car seat by trying one of the following:
- Loose screws: The seat could be loose, which can cause squeaking. Tightening the screws holding the seat to the floor might fix this issue.
- Spring netting: Open up the seat (or access it from below the seat), remove the spring netting, and see if that solves the issue. Your seat will no longer have the same support, but it also won’t squeak.
- Needs lubrications: The springs attached to the base of your seat might need lubrication to move more smoothly. A little WD40 should solve this problem. You can also spray lubricant on the screws and railing holding the seat down.
If none of these worked and you can’t find the source of the sound, it might be time to bring your car to the mechanic.
