How many GMC Sprints were made?

I’ve been researching cars from the ‘70s and the GMC Sprint caught my eye. I was just wondering why I don’t see them much anymore. How many GMC Sprints were made?

It’s hard to find out how many GMC Sprints were made in total. The GMC Sprint was manufactured between 1971 to 1977, with various
trim levels and packages
—the SP trim package is the rarest version of the Sprint, with only 249 models being made in the first year. The ‘71, ‘72, and ‘75 SP models are the hardest Sprints to find in today’s classic car market.
GMC
released the Sprint to compete with the El Camino. It had three transmission options, and higher trims upgraded the 250-inch inline-6 engine to a 307 or 350 small block engine, or even a couple of V8 options. Power windows, power locks, cruise control, air conditioning, and even swivel seats were available at an additional cost.
Since the GMC Sprint is only moderately rare, you can find it for between $16,000 and $32,000 from dealerships, private sellers, or at auction.
