How do you put a Dodge Durango in neutral?

My Durango died last night and it’s blocking my wife’s car in the driveway. How do I put my Dodge Durango in neutral when the shifter won’t move?

Sorry to hear you’re having car troubles. When the vehicle is off, you can put the
Dodge
Durango in neutral by using the emergency neutral lever. Here’s what to do:
  • Apply your Durango’s parking brake
  • Open the center console
  • Near the hinge of the console lid you should see a plastic cover—pry that off
  • Underneath that cover, you’ll find your Emergency Neutral Lever
  • To engage the lever, use a key or a tool like a screwdriver and slide the locking mechanism on the lever while pulling up on the attached strap until it locks
To take it out of neutral, simply follow these steps in reverse order—always with the parking brake on.
Hopefully, the issue you’re facing isn’t serious, and if it is, we sure hope it’s covered by your
car insurance
.
