How many cars are in Virginia?

I just moved to Virginia from West Virginia, and I learned that you don’t have to get car insurance if you pay the state $500. While I find this odd, I was wondering if it makes an impact on how many people own cars in the state. How many cars are there in Virginia?

There are 7.6 million cars in
Virginia
. And you’re right: drivers may opt to pay the Virginia Uninsured Motorist Fee instead of carrying valid
car insurance
. It is $500 per year.
Despite this option, VA estimates that 10.6% of drivers are still uninsured. That’s a shocking 805,600 people who drive without insurance! Consider adding
uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage
to your car insurance policy to protect yourself—if you don’t, these irresponsible drivers could cost you thousands in repairs and medical bills should they cause an accident.
Since you just moved from West Virginia to Virginia, the state gives you 60 days to switch your car insurance policy and get a new driver’s license. So don’t procrastinate. Head into the DMV to get your license and then spend a few minutes on the
