How long does it take for car insurance to pay a claim?

I was rear-ended two weeks ago. My bumper was pretty busted up, making driving difficult. I submitted a claim to the other driver's insurance and I am still waiting to hear back. How long can I expect to wait for a payout?

“Being rear-ended or
involved in an accident
is never fun and waiting for your claim payout is frustrating. Unfortunately, the claim payout times vary depending on your situation.
While most insurance companies aim to pay out claims as quickly as possible, claims processing can take up to 30 days or more. Since you’ve been waiting two weeks, reach out to the
car insurance company
. An agent or the claims adjuster should be able to give you an update on the process.
If you’re currently without a vehicle, see if your insurance will pay for a rental car.
Rental reimbursement
coverage on your policy offers payment or reimbursement for a rental car while your vehicle is in the shop. You can also check with the other driver’s insurance. In some instances, it will pay for a rental because its policyholder was responsible for the accident.
If you’re considering an update to your insurance or you’re looking for a new policy once you receive your claim payout, use
