How do you remove a Toyota Tundra radio?

I want to upgrade to a better head unit for my stereo. I’ve never done anything like this before. How do I remove a Toyota Tundra radio?

Replacing the head unit is a great way to improve the functionality and sound quality of your system. However, it’s a fairly complicated process, so make sure that you have the confidence and knowledge to take on the project.
To remove a
Toyota Tundra
radio, follow these steps:
  • Use a plastic pry bar to pry out the area around the USB charging ports. These are located at the bottom of the center display area.
  • Reach under the climate control area and gently pull forward to remove it. Disconnect it, as well, if necessary.
  • Use a 10-mm ratchet to remove the two screws below the head unit.
  • Reach under the head unit and gently wiggle it until it comes loose.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness as necessary to replace the head unit.
Note that many car audio stores will install a new head unit for cheap or free if you buy it from them, so that might be a better option.
