To play Bluetooth music in your
Ford Explorer
, you’ll have to pair your mobile device with the Ford SYNC multimedia system. Depending on the age of your Explorer, the pairing process may look a little different—but here’s a general walk-through of what to do:
  • First, make sure Bluetooth is turned on in your mobile device’s settings
  • Next, use your Explorer’s infotainment system to select the icon titled “Phone”
  • Select “Add Phone”
  • Navigate back into your phone settings and select your Ford Explorer from the list of available Bluetooth devices (it should show up as “Ford Explorer” or something similar)
  • Confirm the six-digit PIN that pops up on your mobile device matches the digits displayed on your Explorer’s infotainment screen
  • Confirm pairing on your mobile device. You may also have to select “YES” on your Explorer’s infotainment display to initiate pairing
And that’s it! Once you’ve confirmed pairing, your Ford SYNC system should take care of the rest—connecting your mobile device and allowing you to enable features like contact synchronization and music streaming. If you’re having trouble, you can always check your Ford’s owner’s manual for pairing instructions specific to your vehicle’s year and
trim level
