Ceramic coatings are a great way to
protect your paint job
, but cleaning them can be a little complicated. Use these tips to clean your car without damaging your ceramic coating:- Avoid automated car washes. The jet pressure, soaps, and brushes will often be too harsh for ceramic coats, so you may end up with scratches.
- Use car cleaners without added wax. On cars with ceramic coats, wax can actually reduce hydrophobic effect of the coating by giving moisture a little foothold on the exterior.
- Get cleaning recommendations from your coater. Nobody knows more about your car’s cleaning needs than the person who coated it. Ask if they have any advice, and listen to what they say!
- Only use microfiber cloths. Microfiber cloths are specifically designed to minimize scratches in the cleaning process. This is especially important when you have a ceramic coating.
Using those tips, you should have a successful car wash! Remember, you should always wash your car in the shade. Water evaporates faster in the sun, leaving behind watermarks and streaks. Work out of direct sunlight to ensure you get a flawless finish.
