How do you check if your car has gap insurance?

I'm in the process of buying a car and I can't figure out if I have gap insurance or not. Where can I look to find out?

“There are two different places you’ll want to check to see if you have gap insurance:
  • Your lease/loan
  • Your car insurance policy
Lease or loan: Sometimes, lenders will include
gap insurance
as an add-on, especially if you make a small down payment. You can check with your lender to see if you’re paying for gap insurance before you add it to your car insurance policy.
Existing car insurance policy: Even if you didn’t purchase gap insurance from your lender, you may have purchased it directly from your insurance company. Read through your policy carefully or ask an agent for details.
Car dealers will often overcharge for gap insurance, so it’s worth checking to see if you can find it cheaper somewhere else. The
Jerry
app makes it easy! Jerry will help you design a car insurance policy customized to your needs, collect quotes from up to 50 name-brand insurance providers, and deliver them straight to your phone—for free.”
