How do you check car insurance policy status online?

We have a couple of cars in storage. Now that my son is getting ready to drive, I want to see which ones are insured or not. How do I check online?

So the good news is, provided you have the necessary information, this is actually pretty easy. All you’ll need is the:
  • vehicle identification number.
  • license plate number.
  • owner’s driver’s license number.
With this information, your state DMV may be able to help do an auto insurance lookup. That said, your best bet is your car insurance company.
If you know the name of your insurance company and have an online account, you can access your policy documents online. Your policy documents will list which cars have insurance. Any car that isn’t listed on your policy, likely doesn’t have coverage.
Since your son is getting ready to drive and insurance for
teen drivers
can be expensive, be sure to explore your options.
