While you cannot turn off the auto-dimming mirror function on your Ford
, you can find a way around it if you want to tint your windows. There are two light sensors behind the glass of the rearview mirror inside your car that control the auto-dimming functionality of both the interior and driver’s side mirrors. One measures outside ambient light, and the other measures headlight intensity from vehicles behind you.
Using a flashlight, sweep across the mirror to locate the sensors. Once you have, place a small piece of black electrical tape across them to block the sensors. Boom—your mirrors will no longer auto-dim!
Upon tinting your windows, you’ll want to inform your car insurance provider of the modifications made to your vehicle. Note that such modifications may impact your insurance rates.
