How do I remove oil stains from my car's windshield?

Can I remove oil stains from my car's windshield? My dad accidentally spilled an oil-based product on my windshield, and we've been trying to get it off all weekend. I don't know what to do...

“Oil can be such a pain when it gets where it’s not supposed to. There are a couple of things you can do to remove the oily residue from your windshield.
  1. Clean the stain with liquid dishwashing soap. Dish soap is engineered to get rid of greasy, oily stains and residue.
  2. Use Goo-Gone or acetone (the stuff in nail polish remover). Just be careful that it doesn’t spill onto your car’s body because it could damage its paint job.
  3. Lightly scrub the oil spot with steel wool and glass cleaner.
If you try the methods above and you still can’t get the oil spot off, you can always contact your local car detailer for help!
