To open a
Honda
Pilot key fob, you may need a precision screwdriver.
If your fob is from 2016 or later, simply press the knob on the back to release the internal valet key. Then, use the key in the slot to gently twist open the fob and reveal the battery compartment—no screwdriver needed. If it’s just a battery replacement, you’ll need the CR 2032 for this fob.
If your fob is from 2015 or earlier, you will need a precision Phillips screwdriver to release the tiny screw in the back of the fob. Then, insert the screwdriver into the notch on the side of the fob and twist gently. It will pop open to reveal another compartment.
Set aside this outer case and locate the other knob at the top right of the internal part. Use your screwdriver once again to twist and open the battery compartment. You will need a CR 1616 coin battery.
Of course, it is possible that the internal components are damaged beyond repair. In this case, a new battery won’t help! Bring your key fob to a dealership for assistance. They can inspect the fob and issue you a new one, if necessary.
While you figure out a fix for your battery, now might be a good time to make sure you’re happy with your

situation. You can use the
