How do I lower my State Farm car insurance?

I’ve been with State Farm for almost 10 years, and I love their business and customer service. But when I received my renewal notice for my car insurance, my policy went up by $350! What is the best way for me to lower my State Farm car insurance?

State Farm
is one of the top-rated insurance companies in the United States, and that reputation is well earned. But policyholders can sometimes get caught off guard by premium spikes or sudden rate increases. Luckily, State Farm offers discounts for customers to lower their rates.
Call your agent and ask if you’re eligible for any of these discounts:
  • State Farm Drive Safe and Save
: State Farm offers an in-app feature that uses telematics to monitor your driving habits and reward you with insurance discounts for safe driving.
  • Accident-free discount: Drivers with accident-free driving records can score a discount.
  • Multi-car discount: Bundle policies for different vehicles under the same provider for discounts on both policies.
  • Multi-line or bundling discounts: Budle multiple insurance products (i.e. car insurance, homeowners insurance, rental insurance) to receive a multi-policy or multi-line discount.
  • Good driver discount: receive discounts for going three or more years without an at-fault accident or a moving violation
For young or new drivers: The State Farm Steer Clear Program is also popular for drivers under 25 or new motorists. This app tracks your driving and takes you through some basic training. A certificate will be sent to your agent once you complete the training, which will qualify you for a discount.
Alternatively, you could:
  • Drop excess coverage: ideally, you want as much insurance as you can afford, but dropping extra coverage can lower your premium significantly.
  • Raise your deductible: while you’ll need to pay more out of pocket after an accident, your rate will drop.
If none of these options work in your favor, consider shopping around and comparing car insurance quotes from different providers.
