“The reason
why your license is suspended
will dictate what you need to do to reinstate it.
In New Jersey, you’ll need to follow a few different steps. If your license was suspended due to outstanding tickets or fines, pay those first. You’ll then have to pay the reinstatement fee that the New Jersey MVC charges, which is $100.
If the suspension was due to a lapse in
car insurance
, you need to get insurance and then submit it to the MVC. If your suspension has an amount of time attached to it, you’ll also have to wait until the suspension period is over before reinstating your license.
Once you’ve resolved the reason for suspension, paid your fees, and waited the specific amount of time, you can apply for reinstatement. The MVC will then send you a Notice of Restoration. You can also always reach out to the MVC to confirm the steps that are required to
reinstate your license
.
