How do I cancel my Dairyland car insurance?

My car was totaled and I no longer need insurance. I'm buying a new car next month and I plan to get new insurance then. How do I cancel my policy?

To
cancel your Dairyland insurance
, you’ll want to call the company directly at 1-800-334-0090 or submit a request online.
If you’re canceling mid-term and have paid in full, you should inquire about a refund. Dairyland will give you a prorated refund for any coverage you didn’t use. If you pay monthly, you won’t receive a refund as you have only paid for the coverage you use. However, Dairyland also levies a cancellation fee equal to 10% of the remaining amount of the unused premium.
Another thing to consider is the time frame of getting a new car. If you plan on getting a new car within the next month and keeping your
car insurance
is a worthwhile consideration. Most insurance companies offer prior insurance discounts. If you are uninsured for a certain length of time, typically 30 days or more, you’ll lose that discount.
If you can’t afford the coverage you currently have and want to save money, you could consider reducing your coverage to
liability insurance
only. Liability car insurance would reduce the cost of your insurance while still allowing you to receive a future discount on a new insurance policy.
