How do I buy car insurance for a trip to Mexico?

I'm going on a trip to Mexico and I want to drive to various Mayan ruins. However, I'm not sure how to get Mexican car insurance, or if that's even something I can do. So, if I'm even able to, where could I get Mexican car insurance?

“That sounds like a wonderful trip! Some
car insurance
companies offer additional policies that cover you when you’re abroad. However, domestic insurance policies typically do not cover driving in Mexico.
For example,
Allstate
has Mexico Tourist Auto Insurance that covers:
  • Theft and physical damage to the vehicle
  • Medical payments
  • Liability insurance up to $500,000
  • Roadside assistance
  • Legal assistance
  • Medical evacuation
Contact your current car insurance provider to see what coverage they offer for traveling abroad. At the very least, you should take the car insurance offered by the rental car company.
If you want help navigating which companies will offer you insurance while overseas (or across land) get in touch with
Jerry
. Jerry can help you sort out the companies that can help, and they’ll find you the best rates. Try texting or calling (650)753-7799 and we’re happy to help.
Enjoy your trip, and bon voyage!”
