I want to buy car insurance before I buy this new 2019 Chevrolet Camaro I’ve been eyeing for a while. Without proof of insurance, I won’t be able to drive the car off the dealer’s lot. How do I get car insurance for a car I haven’t bought yet?

Buying car insurance before you purchase a new vehicle is simple if you follow these three steps:
- Step 1: Contact the dealership: You can contact a dealer and tell them which car you want to purchase and when. Once an agreement is in place, the dealer will be able to give you the information you’ll need to insure the vehicle, such as the VIN number, current mileage, make, model, trim, and history.
- Step 2: Get a few insurance quotes: Use the car’s information you obtained from the dealer torequest quotesfrom insurance companies. Since prices vary from company to company, it’s a good idea to shop around for at least three quotes.
- Step 3: Select the right quote for you: Once you choose a company and coverage plan that fits your needs, buy the policy. Then, you’ll be provided with a letter of confirmation to show the dealer and finally drive your car home!
